Fully Funded Australia Awards Scholarships 2025-26 | Study for Bachelors’s, Master’s, or Ph.D in Australia

The Australia Awards Scholarships are prestigious international awards offered by the Australian Government to individuals from developing countries, particularly those in the Indo-Pacific region. These scholarships provide opportunities to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at participating Australian universities and Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutions.

Key Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Financial Support: Recipients receive full tuition fees, return air travel, an establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), and more.
  • Diverse Study Fields: Scholarships are available for a range of fields that align with your country’s priority areas for development. However, they are not available for training in areas related to flying aircraft, nuclear technology, or military training.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for an Australia Awards Scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be a minimum of 18 years old on 1 February of the year they commence the scholarship.
  2. Be a citizen of a participating country and apply from their country of citizenship.
  3. Not hold Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.
  4. Not be married to, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who holds, or is eligible to hold, Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.
  5. Not be current serving military personnel.
  6. Not have previously received a long-term Australia Award unless they have resided outside of Australia for twice the length of the total time they were in Australia.
  7. Meet any specific criteria established by the Program Area or the government of the applicant’s country of citizenship.
  8. Be able to satisfy the admission requirements of the institution at which the award is to be undertaken.
  9. Be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Home Affairs to hold a Student Visa.
  10. Not be applying for a scholarship for a course of study at an academic level lower than already achieved.

For a comprehensive list of eligibility criteria, refer to the Australia Awards Scholarships Policy Handbook.

Application Process:

  1. Check Opening and Closing Dates: Applications open on 1 February 2025 and close on 30 April 2025. Deadlines may vary by country, so it’s essential to check the specific dates for your country.
  2. Select Your Country: Visit the Australia Awards website and select your country of citizenship to view specific information on eligibility, priority areas, and how to apply.
  3. Prepare Supporting Documents: Ensure you have all required documents, including proof of citizenship, academic transcripts, and English language proficiency test results.
  4. Submit Application: Applications can be submitted online through the Online Australia Scholarships Information System (OASIS) or by mail if unable to apply online.

Important Considerations:

  • English Language Proficiency: Applicants must meet the minimum English language requirements, which typically include an IELTS score of at least 6.5 with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent scores in other accepted tests.
  • Return Requirement: Scholars are required to leave Australia for a minimum of two years after completing their scholarship. Failure to do so will result in the scholar incurring a debt for the total accrued cost of their scholarship.
