Ikumapayi left the canteen with a newfound sense of determination. She was going to get to the bottom of the strange occurrences in Odeodunbi, no matter what it took. She deeply thought about how to proceed and decided to head to the local library next, hoping to find some information about the experiment that Ibironke had mentioned. “Books are power houses for different informations,” Ikumapayi muttered.
As she browsed through the shelves, she stumbled upon an old book with a strange symbol on the cover. The book was bound in black leather, and it seemed to radiate an otherworldly energy. “What mysterious story does this hold?” She marvelled. Ikumapayi felt a shiver run down her spine as she opened the book, revealing yellowed pages filled with strange symbols and diagrams. She peeked at the content as she opened pages after pages.
Suddenly, a faint whisper travelled through the wind into her ear. “Get out while you still can. Once absorbed cannot be expunged,” the voice said. Ikumapayi spun around, but there was no one there. She brushed the feeling off. “Who could be speaking to her? She was the only one in the library. The library manager is outside basking in sunlight” She thought to herself.
Ikumapayi hurriedly drop the book and ran out of the library. She glanced back at the library, chill running down her spine as she felt intent eyes on her.
