Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for the Blue Book Traineeship, you must:
✔️ Have a university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) in any field.
✔️ Be fluent in English, French, or German.
✔️ Have no more than six weeks of prior experience in EU institutions.
✔️ Be from any country worldwide (not limited to EU citizens).
To be eligible for the 2025 European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- Completed at least a three-year higher education degree (equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree or higher).
- Must provide a certificate or official confirmation from the university confirming the degree.
- Work Experience:
- No prior work experience exceeding six weeks in any EU institution, body, agency, delegation, with Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), or with Advocates General at the Court of Justice of the European Union (EUCJ).
- Language Proficiency:
- Administrative Traineeship:
- Proficiency in two official EU languages:
- One must be a working language (English, French, or German) at C1 or C2 level.
- The second language at a minimum of B2 level.
- For non-EU nationals, proficiency in one working language (English, French, or German) at C1 or C2 level is required.
- Proficiency in two official EU languages:
- Translation Traineeship (Directorate-General for Translation – DGT):
- Ability to translate into your main/target language (usually your mother tongue) from two other official EU languages:
- Main/target language: One of the official EU languages.
- First source language: English, French, or German.
- Second source language: Any official EU language with at least B2 level proficiency.
- Ability to translate into your main/target language (usually your mother tongue) from two other official EU languages:

What Kind of Work Will You Do?
As a trainee, your tasks may include:
- Conducting research and writing reports.
- Drafting policy documents and briefings.
- Attending meetings and taking notes.
- Supporting administrative tasks in your assigned department.
- Contributing to EU projects related to governance, law, trade, and more.
Each trainee is placed in a department based on their skills and interests.
